saturday film nights

The Lido Cinema, originally opened in 1920 and held a unique place in the hearts of many local residents who fondly remember the laughter, joy, and stories that unfolded on its screen. While the cinema has been closed since 1965, it's legacy as a community gathering space endures. Now that Cork Community Art Link reside in the premises, we want to honour its history, while building a vibrant community hub that fosters connections, and enriches the lives of the area.

Over the next few months we'll be screening films in the Blackpool Community Centre and, in due course, will move the cinema into our own building. In the meantime, we'll be screening films and television serials from the 1950s on the last Saturday of every month. Doors will open at 6.30pm and the show will begin at 7pm. Its free entry and tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Our future programme will be determined by the audience and we'll do our best to accommodate everyone. The first night will take place on Saturday 31st May. Just click on the button below for details of our next screening.
