Strangers on a Train is a 1951 American psychological thriller film noir produced and directed by Alfred Hitchcock, based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith with a wonderful screenplay by Raymond Chandler ands Czenzi Ormonde. Some of you may know Highsmith's most famous novel, The Talented Mr.Ripley, which was made into a very successful film in 1999 by Anthony Minghella. This film concerns two strangers who meet on a train, one of whom is a psychopath, who proposes a twisted idea: they should each murder someone in the other's life, thus creating perfect alibis for each other.Strangers on a Train, is seen as one of Hitchcock's most efficient and ruthlessly delicious thrillers, in which natural human behaviour is the driving force behind the true macabre rather than supernatural elements, a seminal example of the thriller genre, and one of the great films of the 20th Century.
