WHAT IF: INSIDE OUT

What If: Inside Out
‘What If: Inside Out’ was a public space arts project by Cork Community Art Link in partnership with St Marys Road Library that took place during the Cork world book festival 2008 April 22-26th. The project aimed to explore the potential for creative uses of public space by bringing the library and its books outdoors into a small public space directly opposite the branch. The temporary outdoor reading environment included benches, reading spaces, a selection of books and reading materials as well as a number of guest readers who gave public readings during the course of the week. Workshops were held each morning with local schools and young participants to make and decorate life sized origami reading chairs.
Inside out ended with a one day book exchange market the Saturday where readers were encouraged to bring a book and swap it for another.
